Okley Barnes

         Mr. Okley Barnes age 55 of Girdler, KY departed this life on Monday, December 11, 2017 at his home. He was the son of James C. Barnes and Ruby (Jones) Barnes, born to them on December 14, 1961 in Knox Co. He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a former auto body repairman and had worked for Phillip Smith’s Body Shop and Myers Chevrolet.

         He is preceded in death by his parents along with three brothers, Laymon Barnes, Eugene Barnes and Russell Barnes and a brother and sister in law, Effie Barnes and Wayne Holland.

         Left behind to mourn his passing, one sister Ruth Holland of Barbourville and three brothers, Kenley Barnes, Johnny Lester Barnes and wife Jennie and Charles Melvin Barnes all of Girdler and three sisters in law, Linda Barnes, Helen Barnes and Marlene Barnes all of Girdler. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

        Funeral services for Mr. Okley Barnes will be conducted at the New Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Collett and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be all his church family at New Bethel Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in the Betty Frost Cemetery at Woolum, KY. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the New Bethel Baptist Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
