William Merida Obituary
Mr. William (Bill) Merida of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life for heaven on September 26, 2023 Mr. Merida was the son of the late Dallas Merida and Mary Ellen Powell Merida. He was born on May 5, 1938.
Mr. Merida was an Army Veteran. He served for 8 years 6 months. His last service was in Vietnam where he was given the Bronze Star for Bravery. His class was staff Sargent E.B. He worked for Knox County School until his retirement in 2004. He was of the Baptist Faith. In 1967 he was united in marriage to Callie Smith. She proceeded him in death. He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Genevia Smith and Delsie Baker, two brothers Emanuel Ray and Eugene.
He is survived by his step-son Rodney Merida, 5 grandchildren and one sister, Drucilla Merida Clark of Land O Lakes, Florida.
He has several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passings.
The viewing for Mr. Merida will be Friday, September 29 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m.
The Rev. J. Timothy Clark will officiate the services. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
