Obituary
Mrs. Peggy Ruth Davis age 78 of Bimble, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her home. She was born on November 3, 1944 in Letcher County, Kentucky and was the daughter of Chester Wade Sturgill and Helen (Cress) Sturgill. She was the widow of James Monroe Davis and was a homemaker. Her favorite past time was sitting on the porch in her swing and drinking coffee.
She is preceded in death by her husband James Monroe Davis, her parents, Chester and Helen Sturgill, a son, Danny Davis, a grandson Russell Roark and many brothers and sisters.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her daughter, Lisa McVey and her son, James Monroe Davis, Jr and wife Reba all of Bimble, her grandchildren, Brittany Branson, Gary Ray Monroe Branson, Maggie Davis, Georgia Roark, Dana Davis Johnson, Nellie Davis, Inez Davis, James Monroe Davis, III, Sarah Davis, Billy Tetlley, Randall Roark, Anthony Roark and wife Cindy and Wayne Roark, Amber Mills, Patience Mills, Destiny Roark, Steven Roark and Addison McVey, three brothers, Billy Ray Sturgill, Jewell Sturgill and Wade Sturgill, two sisters, Nancy Sturgill, Betty Sturgill. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Ruth Davis will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Pete Clark officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Davis, James Monroe Davis, Jr., Shannon Burnette, Gary Branson and Michael Sturgill. She will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery at Flat Lick. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
