Meck (Payne) Mays

      Meck Mays, 94, of Heidrick, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the Barbourville Health and Rehab.  She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Mattie (Hampton) Payne of Girdler, born to them on March 7, 1927. She was united in marriage with Charles Mays and to this union three sons were born. Meck was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed sewing, she was retired from General Motors.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, two sons, Charles Mays, Jr and Eddie Mays.

      Survivors include her son, Paul Mays, a daughter-in-law, Sally Mays, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

      Her funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. In the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Hampton Smith Cemetery in Girdler, Kentucky.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cobb Hampton Funeral Home.
