Imogene (Grubb) Smith

      Mrs. Imogene Smith age 85 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of Tom and Bessie (Mills) Grubb born to them on October 26, 1937 in Knox County. She united in marriage with Hobert Carmack and to this union one son was born. Later in life she united in marriage with R. P. Smith. Imogene was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church.

      She is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Bessie Grubb, her husband R.P. Smith, her son David Carmack, a brother, Bobby Bright, her sister, Mae Broughton and brother-in-law Joe Broughton.

      Left behind to mourn her passing, one grandson, Allen Carmack and wife Misty, two great grandsons, Nathan Carmack and wife Katelyn all of Barbourville and Logan Carmack and fiance’ Katelin and their son Troy of Pineville, two special nephews, Darick Bright and Rick Broughton and wife Sheila and a niece Joetta Jordan and husband Harold all of Barbourville.  She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends.

      Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Smith will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Mike Helton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Carmack, Nathan Carmack, Logan Carmack, Darick Bright, Rick Broughton and Ryan Broughton. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

     Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
