Essie Carnes

        Mrs. Essie Carnes age 79 of Barbourville departed this life on Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She is the daughter of Andy and Ella Johnson. She was born on March 6, 1944 in Knox Fork, Kentucky.

        She is preceded in death by her parents Andy and Ella Johnson, two brothers Robert Johnson, Clarence Johnson, two sisters Gracie Smith, Lucy Henson.

        Left behind to mourn her passing, her husband Eugene Carnes, daughter Julie Dizney and husband Ricky of Gray, Ky., step-daughter Mary Carnes of Walker, Ky., sister Ethel Mills of Barbourville, Ky., five grandchildren Savannah Messer, Herman Hensley, Rebekah Hensley, Johna Hensley, Hannah Hensley, one great-grandson Ryker Messer, nephew Michael Johnson, niece Melissa Nugent. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

        Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Carnes will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leonard Lester and Rev. Ken Merida officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hutchinson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

        Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
