Amanda Ellen (Hubbard) Downing

      Mrs. Amanda Downing, "aunt Jo", age 82 of Barbourville departed this life on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at her home. She was the widow of Robert “Duffy” Downing and the daughter of William and Mattie Hubbard. She was born on March 30, 1940 in Barnyard, Kentucky. Amanda was a member of the Heidrick Holiness Church.  She enjoyed canning and going to the casino and loved family gatherings.

      She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Hubbard, her husband Robert “Duffy” Downing, two brothers, Ed and Bill, four sisters, Sue, Mae, Cleo and Marie and her step-mother Irene Gray.

         Left behind to mourn her passing, one half- brother, Burl Gray and wife Rita of Highland, Michigan, her favorite niece and caregiver, Stacy Hubbard and husband Terry of Barbourville, niece Sandy Clark and husband Glen of Gross Pointe, Michigan, nephews, William Wilder and wife Diane of Trenton, Michigan, Billy Hubbard and David Hubbard and wife Tonya and Mike Hubbard and wife Teresa, Paul Hubbard all of Barbourville, her "baby boy" Hayden James Sams, her best friend, Joyce Hartley of Barbourville, a sister-in-law, Pam Hubbard of Davison, Michigan, all her church family along with many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

         Funeral services for Mrs. Downing will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Duke Hammons and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, William Wilder, Billy Hubbard, T.J. Hubbard, Justin Hubbard, Terry Hubbard, David Hubbard, Allan Gray and R.P. Gray. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00.
