Vira Lee Gibbs

Vira Lee Gibbs, age 86, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at the Advent Health Manchester Hospital.

She was born on November 30th, 1939, in Clay County to the late Dock and Goldie Smith Asher.

Vira was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Gibbs.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Vernon Gibbs and wife Lyvonne, Jeffery Gibbs and wife Susan, and Gwen Mills and husband Earnie; her grandchildren, Curtis Mills, Mark Gibbs and wife Jessica, Brandon Gibbs and wife Suzanne, and Lora Beth Warren and husband Travis; her great-grandchildren, Brian Gibbs and wife Jessica, Kenneth Mills, Summer Mills, Gavin Mills, Allie Gibbs, Grayson Gibbs, Zeke Warren, and Zach Warren; her great-great-grandchild, John Marcus Gibbs. She is also survived by her siblings, Clara Dobbs and Elmer Asher.

In addition to her husband and parents, Vira is preceded in death by her sisters, Oda Mae Abner and Anna Lee York; her brothers, Phil Asher and Albert Asher; and her dear friend, Buck Warren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 5th, at the Antioch United Baptist Church, with William R. Cobb officiating.

Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 4th, at Britton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Asher Cemetery on South Highway 11.

Vira will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
