R.J. Mills

Mr. R.J. Mills, age 87 of Cannon, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in the Beech Tree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico, TN. He was the husband of Odie Mae Mills and the son of John L. Mills and Emma Mills.

R.J. was united in marriage with June Mills and to this union four children were born. Later he united in marriage with Odie Mae Mills and to this union four children were also born. He was a member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church and was a farmer during his life. He also enjoyed coon hunting and loved spending time with his family especially all his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife June Mills, his parents, John L. and Emma Mills, four brothers, Farmer C. Mills, John L. Mills, Arnold Dallas Mills and Vernon Mills, four sisters, Stacie Fields, Georgia Carter, Lena Garrison and Jeannette Patterson and a son-in-law, Ricky Smith.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife Odie Mae Mills, his children, Lois Hubbard and husband Howard, Sharon Smith and husband Earnie, Judy Smith, Don Mills and wife Kathy, Gary Mills and wife Karen, Larry Mills and wife Rosemary, Harold Mills and wife Sharon and Tammy Jordan Mills. He also leaves behind twenty-two grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Nadine Elliott and Geneda Garland and one brother Clark Mills along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Mills will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Dewayne Smith and Brian Smith officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Nan Riley Cemetery at Woolum. Pallbearers will be, Derek Mills, Logan Mills, Terry Mills, Jarrod Mills, Brian Davidson, Joshua Gray, Nick Gunn and Cody Phipps. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Beech Tree Manor and doctors, nurses and staff of Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin.

Friend will be received at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 4:00 p.m.
