Rickey Broughton age 67, of Barbourville departed this life on Monday, February 9, 2026 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington. He was the son of the late Joe and Mae (Mills) Broughton, born to them on December 16, 1958. In 1977 he united in marriage with Sheila Smith and to this union two children were born. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Broughton, his grandparents, George and Easter (Bright) Broughton and Tom and Bessie (Mills) Grubb, a cherished niece, Jenna Camille Davis and a cousin who was like a brother to him, David Carmack.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife, Sheila of Barbourville, his son, Ryan Broughton and wife Erin of Berea, his daughter, Holly Morrison and husband Matt of Berea, grandchildren, Caylin, Eden, Hailie and Sarah, his sister, Joetta Jordan and husband Harold, mother and father in-law, Earl and Betty Smith, sisters-in-law, Marcetta Helton and husband Greg and Kimberly Davis and husband Tim all of Barbourville. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

Rickey along with his wife Sheila owned and operated Knox Florist here in Barbourville for forty-years.  After retiring from Delta Gas, Rickey enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddy, Mitchell Matlock, who he loved to pick on. He also liked to watch and listen to live auctions. Rickey was steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ and he lived his life and raised his children that way as well.

Funeral services for Rickey will be held in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Mickie Smith and  Steve Farmer officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Casey Jordan, Ryker Ty Jordan, Tucker Smith, Todd Mills, Darick Bright and Eric Barker. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Mitchell Matlock, Allen Carmack, Tony Parsons, Roy Mills, Dennis Smith, and Randy Burnette. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Baptist Health Lexington 2H-ICU  doctors, nurses and staff for all their love and care during their stay. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
