Mr. Michael Jones, age 67 of Corbin, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, April 5, 2026 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was the husband of Yvonne (Smith) Jones and the son of Charlie and Dora Jones born to them on February 21, 1959 in Knox County. He retired from Forest Lanes Bowling Alley in Corbin where he worked for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Dora Jones, seven siblings, Henry Jones, Hugh Jones, Harry Jones, Clyde Ray Jones, Gary Wayne Jones, Charlene Shiflet and Ruth Ann Patterson.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife Yvonne McVey Jones, children, Jason Jones and wife Amber, Amanda Jones and fiance’ Randy Smith and Brittany Merritt and husband Matthew, twelve grandchildren, Brandon, Lucas, Marena, Rodney, Kaylee, Ariana, Odin, Collin, Kaylee, Tara, Patrick and Reiley, three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Greyson and Emily, four siblings, Raymond Jones, Harold Gene Jones and wife Donna, Thomas L. Jones and wife Drema and Terry Jones and wife Marilyn, a daughter, Lavon Marie Miller and husband Robert, brothers and sisters-in-law, Sarah Lowe and husband Frank, Sol Smith, Jr. and Alfred Smith and two very good friends, Karen Reeves and Virginia Philpot. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerome Cox officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Jones Family Cemetery in Disappointment Hollow. Pallbearers will be, his “best man” Matthew Merritt, Randy Smith, Jason Jones, Michael Patterson and Rodney Cain. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with funeral expenses. Donations may be made online by selecting the “Donate Now” icon below this obituary. Donations may also be made in person at the funeral home, or by calling the funeral home directly at 606-546-5168. All donations will go toward assisting with expenses.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
