Obituary

Ms. Marie Smith age, 65 of Woolum, Kentucky , departed this life surrounded by all her surviving siblings on Friday, February 27,2026 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was the daughter of the late Jabe and Laura Gambrel Smith, born February 2, 1961, at her home. She spent much of her life in the quite comfort of her country home, where she preferred a peaceful and private way of living.

Marie didn't have a spouse or children, but she found joy in spending time with family and friends who she cherished. She was a member of the Boone Heights Holiness Church and she loved to sing for the Lord. Marie enjoyed gardening and setting tobacco, talking on the phone with friends, and going to church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Boone and Mary Smith, and Jim and Gessie Gambrel as well as a sister, Lula Gray, and two brothers-in-law, Clayton Gray and Rick Mills.

Marie is survived by 3 brothers, Jim Boone Smith and wife Sandra, F.C. Smith, and Jesse Smith and wife Sherry, all of Woolum, and one sister, Clory Mills of Gray, Kentucky. Nieces and Nephews, Linda Honeycutt and husband Henry, James Gray, Jeffery Gray, Joey Gray and wife Mary, Lisa Gray, Jason Smith and wife Tiffany, Jesalyn Reed and husband Tim, and Cassidy Marcum and Husband Tyler. She also leaves behind great nieces and nephews as well as a host of beloved friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Ms. Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tyler Marcum, Rev. Jason Smith, Rev. Johnny Schell, Rev. Leslie Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery in Woolum.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
