Mr. Lloyd Cowl “L.C.” Smith, age 80 of Bimble, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, May 17, 2026 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was the husband of Doris (Gray) Smith and the son of Lloyd Cowl Smith and Ruby (Bargo) Smith. He was born in Knox County on September 18, 1945 one of fourteen children.
He was a member of the Jeff’s Creek Baptist Church. In his younger years he had been a logger and a farmer and since 1997, he had been a lawnmower repairman. L.C. enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruby Smith, two sons, Kenny Smith and Gary Smith and four brothers, Arlie Smith, Arvil Smith, Homer Smith and Nevel Smith.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife Doris Smith of Bimble, a son, Calvin Smith and wife Perry of Pineville and a daughter, Joann Pope and husband Bill of Winchester, grandchildren, William Pope, Aaron Pope and wife Kayla, Jordan Smith, Jacob Smith and wife Jessica, Shasta Walters and fiance' John Smith, Anthony Smith, Jennifer Smith and Trenton Tuttle, great-grandchildren, Sebastian Pope, Dalton Walters, Damien Smith, Gracelyn Fuson, Carter Morgan and Sawyer Smith, five sisters, Freda Wilson and husband Lannie, Pam Bright, Reba Hensley and husband David, Verda Hughes, Vivian Smith and husband John, three brothers, Colonel Smith, Harold Gene Smith and wife Irene and Don Smith and wife Barbara. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services for L.C. Smith will be conducted on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. Jeff Metcalf officiating. He will be laid to rest in the W.H. Smith Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be, Calvin Smith, Jordan Smith, Jacob Smith, Aaron Pope, Austin Bargo, Lannie Wilson, Chandler Smith and William Pope. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.
