Mr. Johnny Root age 66 of Girdler, KY, the husband of Brenda Root departed this life on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2008 in the Knox Co. Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda (Blevins) Root and the son of Buster and Claudia Root born to them on September 10, 1942. Johnny believed in the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Claudia Root and his mother and father in law, J.D. & Nannie Blevins.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife Brenda , one brother, Frankie Root and wife Jackie and a special niece Nichole Root all of Girdler, his brothers and sisters in law, Claudia Sue Merida, Faye Hammons and husband Don all of Heidrick, Jennifer Cobb and husband Robert of Barbourville, Don Blevins and wife Kay of Bimble, Burchell Blevins and wife Rita of Artemus, Wayne Blevins and wife Ruth of Barbourville, Gary Blevins and wife Kathy of Artemus, Sidney Blevins and wife Loretta of Heidrick and, Ricky Blevins also of Heidrick, two special cousins, Billy Ray Hensley and wife Rosie and Chris Hensley and wife Nancy all of Greenroad, KY and several nieces and nephews along with a host of many other relatives and friends are left to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Johnny Root will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mann Cobb and Rev. Duke Hammons officiating. Pallbearers will be Duke Hammons, Jeff Blevins, Floyd Blevins, Mike Blevins, Dean Merida, Charles Wayne Blevins, James Burchell Blevins, John Blevins and Donrick Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be, Delmer Smith, Stoney Hobbs and Troy Abner. Burial will be in the Root Cemetery at Girdler. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday From 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
