Mr. J. D. Rice age 81 of Trosper, KY passed away on Thursday – January 1,2009 at his home. He was the widow of Dorothy (Davis) Rice and the son of Garfield and Margaret (Cox) Rice. He was born on June 7, 1927 in Bell Co. KY. He was a member of the Trosper Church of Christ and had been a factory worker for Dodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garfield and Margaret Rice, his wife, Dorothy, three brothers, Whitley Rice, Clay Rice and Will Rice and two sisters, Gracie Bingham and Isabella Warren.
Survivors include, three sons, Dennis Rice and Pam, Everett Rice and wife Beloise all of Trosper, KY and Lonnie Rice and wife Vickie of Artemus, KY, two daughters, Sue Eldridge and husband Alfred and Marsha Cecil and husband Lonnie all of Trosper, one brother, Larken Rice and wife Chelsie of Turkey Creek and two sisters, Fannie Golden and Tishia Rice both of Barbourville, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Rice also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Rice will be conducted on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Shaffer and Rev. Tim Hamilton officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Cecil, Barry Cecil, James Rice, Jeff Mills, Tommy Mills, Jimmy Buchanan and Bob Frederick, Honorary Pallbearers will be Garfield Taylor, Corb Hembree, Carson Jackson, Matt Warren and Eddie Smith. Burial will be in the Powers Cemetery at Trosper with the Hampton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
