Mrs. Flossie Maxine (Peavley) Anderson, age 91 of Gray, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. She was the widow of Floyd Russell Anderson and the daughter of Thomas Peavley and Frankie Forest (Balsinger) Peavley, born to them on April 14, 1934 in Knox County.
Flossie retired from the Detroit Board of Education where she had been a teacher’s aide. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and embroidery. She was a member of Keck Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd Anderson, her parents, Thomas and Frankie Peavley, her brothers, Chester Jimmy Peavley, Robert Dale Peavley, Thomas Peavley and Gary Wayne Peavley, her sisters, Lillie Mae Jackson and Hazel Owens and one nephew, Todd Owens.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her four children, James Dean Anderson of Novi, Michigan, Doyal Anderson and wife Glenda of Onaway, Michigan, Gwendolyn Anderson and Darlene Teer both of Sandwich, Illinois, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, three sisters, Margie Benge of Girdler, Barbara Warren and husband Bill of Corbin and Bonnie Hubbs and husband Russ of Gray. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Flossie Anderson will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dale Phipps officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Anderson, Campbell Cemetery in Gray beside her husband. Pallbearers will be Alan Anderson, Daniel Johnson, Tommy Peavley, Kyle Hubbs, Eric Peavley, Derek Johnson, Honorary Pallbeares will be, Keith Johnson, Pat Clouse, Russ Hubbs, David Anderson, James Anderson, Mike Teer and Doyal Anderson. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 1:00.
