Mrs. Fern Faye (Townsley) Ledford 84 of Hinkle, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, October 17, 2025 at her home. She was born on January 2, 1941 in Barnyard, Kentucky, the daughter of John Anderson Townsley and Julie Belle (Smith) Townsley.
Fern was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, making Lye soap and attending craft shows. She had been a member of the Daniel Boone Festival Committee for around thirty years. She had also worked with the Barbourville Hospital ARH Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Anderson and Julie Belle Townsley, one son, Timmy Ray Ledford, a daughter-in-law, Angela Ledford, a grandson, Dylan Hammons, six sisters, Marietta Mae Broughton, Cleda Ellen Stoller, Vivian Effie Ledford, Ida Lee Gambrel, Eva B. Hulen and Beulah Marie Genslak, six brothers, James Lewis Townsley, John Anderson Townsley, Jr., Ernest Chandler Townsley, Colonel Lester Townsley, Kelly Randall and Clarence Ray Townsley.
Left behind to mourn her passing, her two daughters, Robin Ledford of Loudon, Tennessee and Beth Kemper and husband Johnny (her favorite son-in-law) of Hazard, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Brandi Reimer, Brittney Nicely, Josh Ledford and wife Angie, Diedra Hammons and Tiffany Kemper, ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Flora Jean Warring of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Laura Agnes Stacy of Girdler, Kentucky, special nieces, Beverly Evans and Judy Belle Stacy, special friends, Bug and Georgia Ann Trent and Freda Smith. She also leaves behind many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ledford will be conducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home with Rev. Les Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Greenroad. Pallbearers will be Brandon Jackson, Brett Ledford O.V. Mills and all friends and neighbors. Honorary Pallbearers will members of the Daniel Boone Festival Committee, the Barbourville ARH Auxiliary, Karen Johnson, Kathy Smith and all neighbors and friends.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
