Mr. Earl Swafford, age 64, of Girdler, KY, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, in the Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin. He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Hammons Swafford born to them on January 31, 1949, in Knox County, KY. Mr. Swafford worked for the Knox County Road Department for over 30 years. He was a member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Earl Swafford, his father-in-law, Charles Bruner, Jr., two brother Arthur Swafford, Jr., and Creed Swafford and three sisters, Viola Anderson, Lena Randall, and Vernie Smith.
On April 17, 1971, he united in marriage to Frances Bruner, and to this union three children were born. He is survived by his wife, Frances Swafford of Girdler, KY, his daughter Sherry Noss and husband Patrick of West Paducah, KY, and his son Mickey Swafford of Girdler, KY, one granddaughter, Summer Swafford of Barbourville, KY, his mother-in-law, Cleo Bruner of Girdler, KY, two brothers, Marvin Swafford and wife Phyllis of Cincinnati, OH, Ernest Swafford and special friend Ona Johnson of DeKalb, IL, a brother-in-law Elmer Smith of Milan, IN, four sisters, Lola Booher of Norwood, OH, Juanita Hinkle of Beaver Creek, OH, Ethel Smith and husband Richard of Harrodsburg, KY, Darlene Williamson and husband Ronnie of Hinkle, KY, a sister-in-law Martha Swafford of Gray, KY. Mr. Swafford also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Earl Swafford will be conducted in the chapel of the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8, at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev. Ricky Broughton and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Swafford/Taylor Cemetery at Hammons Fork. Pallbearers will be Tim Burton, Gary Gray, Ronald Burnett, Jerry Bargo, Ronnie Williamson, Mark Bruner, Patrick Noss, Mickey Swafford, and all nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of the Knox County Road Department, and Troy Hampton. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8, from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
