Mrs. Dorothy Gladys Florek age 91 of Trace Branch, KY departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2010 in the Knox Co. Hospital. She was born in Bell Co. on June 19, 1918 and was the daughter of Eugene and Sudie (Fisher)Ore and was raised by her second mother Sallie Ore. On May 16, 1960 she united in marriage with Stanley Florek. Dorothy believed in the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed quilting and arts & crafts and growing her garden and her beautiful flowers. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #69 Women’s Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Sudie Ore and her second mother who raised her Sallie Ore, one son Glen Carter, one brother Bill Ore and two sisters, Christine Davis and Louise Abner.
Left behind to mourn her passing is her loving husband of almost fifty years, Stanley Florek of Trace Branch, two daughters, Bonnie Hammons and husband Burton of Heidrick and Phyllis Sycamore of Phoenix, Arizona, five sisters, Elizabeth Dye and husband Ben of Nicholasville, KY, Hallie McSwain of Russell Springs, KY, Lillian Curry and husband Jack of Minnesota, Edna Lay and husband John D. of Florida and Eva Johnson also of Florida, four grandchildren, Tammy Stewart and husband Jerry of Heidrick, Pam Vallance of Michigan, Sonia Pancoast and husband Jerry of Iowa and Lora Mahoney and husband Ray also of Iowa, five great grandchildren, Teri Spiker and husband Clifford of Michigan, Tabatha Stewart of Heidrick, Shawn Felts of Michigan, Lucas Stewart of Heidrick and Cassandra Pancoast of Iowa and one great grandchild Ty Spiker. Mrs. Florek also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Florek will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. David Barnard officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Abner, Buddy Abner, Jerry Stewart, John Jr. Davis, E.G. Abner and Wayne Abner. Honorary Pallbearers will be children and grandchildren. Mrs. Florek will be laid to rest in the Fisher Cemetery at Heidrick. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the Hampton Funeral Home from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00.
