Mrs. Doris Jean Brown, age 78 of Scalf, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, November 30, 2025 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. She was born on December 27, 1946 in Knox County, the daughter of Bentley Hobbs and Sylvia (Bingham) Hobbs. She united in marriage with Dexter Brown and to this union four children were born.

Doris believed in the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, animals, cooking, taking care of her home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Brown, three daughters, Beverly Gray, Brenda Carnes and Deborah Robinson, a brother, Dempsey Hobbs and a sister, Shirley Bingham.

Left behind to mourn her passing, her daughter, Thursann Hurst and husband Nate of Corbin, Sister, Imogene Meade and husband David of Abbingdon, Virginia, brothers, Jerry Hobbs and wife Margaret of Scalf, Don Hobbs and wife Maryann of Scalf and Archie Hobbs of Scalf and son-in law, Billy Joe Baker of Cannon, her grandchildren, Sherry Smith and husband Dennis of Berea, Dana Smith and husband Jeff of Cannon, Holly Bingham and husband Jason of Corbin, Kasey Bargo of Corbin, Dexter Cody Jones and girlfriend, Alison of Corbin, Adam Robinson and wife Kaitlyn of Cartersville, Aaron Broughton and husband Cody of Corbin, great-grandchildren, Jacob Baker of Berea, Austin Smith of Berea, Jeffery Smith of Corbin, Kaydence Brown and fiance' James Stephens of Corbin, Tara Brown of London, Christopher Brown of London, Ada Bingham of Corbin, Maddilyn Bargo of Corbin, Peyten Robinson, Johnathon Robinson and Annalise Robinson all of Cartersville, Andy Smith, Seantai Smith, D. J. Smith and Sam Smith of London, Tatum Smith, Laini Smith, Dahlilah Smith, Dominic Bickle and Owen Wyatt. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Broyles officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Johns Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dexter Cody Jones, Nate Hurst, Aaron Matthew Broughton, Cody Burden, Adam Robinson and James Stephens. 

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00.

Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
