Mr. Curtis Messer, age 84 of Flat Lick, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, May 7, 2026 in the Barbourville Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the widower of Rose Elizabeth (West) Messer and the son of Ellis Messer and Viola (Mills) Messer born to them on August 1, 1941.

He is preceded in death by his wife Rose Messer and his parents, Ellis and Viola Messer.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his son Gregory Messer and wife Jennifer of Mt. Sterling and a granddaughter, Wendi Paige Hammons and husband Jaxon, two brothers, Kenneth Messer and Glenn Messer (Gertrude) and a sister/cousin Charlotte Robinson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Messer will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
