Mrs. Bertha Fay Goodwin, age 83 of Gray, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in the Beechtree Manor Nursing Home in Jellico, Tennessee. She was the widow of James Goodwin and the daughter of Arthur Crett McDonald and Zella Mae (Hembree) McDonald, born to them on June 1, 1942.

Bertha loved to crochet and made each of her grandchildren a blanket when they were born. She was also a talented seamstress, crafting Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. When her sons were young, she made them Star Wars and Star Trek themed curtains for their bedrooms. These are just a few fond memories of her from her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Goodwin, her parents, Arthur and Zella McDonald, a son, Phillip Derek Goodwin and four siblings, Cliff McDonald, June Van, Mae Sutton and Charles McDonald.

Left behind to mourn her passing, her loving children, her daughter Zella Melissa Goodwin of Louisville and her son, James Goodwin of Gray, a brother, Arthur Melvin McDonald and wife Sue of Alabama and a sister, Emily Black and husband Carson of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Gene Stuckey, James Stuckey, Faye Stuckey, Tyler Goodwin and Taylor (T.J.) Goodwin. She also leaves behind several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Goodwin will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
