John M. Powell

Mr. John M. Powell, age 88, departed this life on Monday, November 25, 2019 at his sister’s home in Bimble, Kentucky. He was the son of Joe and Axie (Sizemore) Powell, born to them on July 22, 1931 in Bimble, Kentucky.  He was a member of the United States Army in the Korean War. John accepted Christ as his personal savior in November 1966 and was a member of the Fundamentalist Baptist Church in Michigan.  He was in manufacturing at General Motors, enjoyed hunting, driving his truck to his farm and listening to the preachers Adrian Rogers and Oliver Green. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Axie (Sizemore) Powell

Left behind to mourn his passing are his brothers Howard Powell of Bimble, Kentucky, Evert Powell and wife Stella of Bimble, Kentucky, Leemon Powell and wife Jewel of Louisville, Kentucky, Willard Powell of Bowling Green, Kentucky, sisters Evelyn Powell Mills of Bimble, Kentucky, Pauline Powell of Bimble, Kentucky, and Lois Stanek and husband Thomas of Northville, Michigan, nephews John Timothy Powell, Randall Willard Powell, niece Dr. Melissa Powell Traynels, great niece Katie Traynels and great nephew Jacob Powell.  He also leaves behind a host of many relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. John M. Powell will be conducted at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home in Barbourville, Kentucky on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Josh Smith officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Powell Cemetery at Bimble , Kentucky.  Pallbearers will be his friends and neighbors.  Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:30 p.m.
