Joe Broughton Obituary

          Joe Broughton, age 87, of Bimble, Kentucky died at his home Sunday, May 12, 2019, with his wife and family by his side. Joe was the son of George and Easter Bright-Broughton, born to them on April 27, 1932.  On September 27, 1952 he united in marriage to Mae Mills Broughton and to this union, two children were born.  Joe was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and retired from Delta Natural Gas Company after many years of service.

          Joe was preceded in death by his parents George and Easter Broughton, his brothers, Oscar and wife Honor Broughton, Peter “Rabbit” and wife Doris Broughton. His sisters, Classie Mills and husband Ben, Rosie Mills, Margaret Bargo and husband Elbert and his mother and father in law, Tom Grubb and Bessie (Mills) Grubb and a brother-in-law Robert “Bobby” Bright.

         Joe is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Mae Broughton of Bimble a daughter, Joetta Jordan and husband Harold of Cannon, Kentucky, and son, Rickey Broughton and wife Sheila of Bimble, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Casey Jordan and wife Misty, Ryan Broughton and wife Erin, Shannon Broughton and husband Adam, Holly Morrison and husband Matthew, eight great grandchildren, Ryker, Journey, Kinley, Lela, Caylin, Eden, Hailie, and Sarah, sister-in-law, Imogene Smith, brother-in-law, Ben Mills, and special friends and caregivers Patsy Brown and Georgia Mills.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

         Funeral services for Joe Broughton will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend David Barnard and Reverend Ralph David Halcomb officiating.  Pallbearers will be Casey Jordan, Ryan Broughton, Ryker Ty Jordan, Matthew Morrison, Adam Broughton, Allen Carmack, and Darick ‘Doug’ Bright.  Honorary pallbearers will be caregivers, Patsy Brown and Georgia Mills and Hospice of the Bluegrass. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends may call at Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
