David Wayne Messer

      Mr. David Wayne Messer age 33 of Barbourville departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2024, in the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was born on September 5, 1990, in Barbourville, Kentucky, the son of Cassandra Eileen (Scroggins) Messer and Steve Messer. David enjoyed watching football, playing video games and cars. His greatest enjoyment in life was his daughter Myrah.

      He is preceded in death by his mother Cassandra Messer, his grandparents, David and Anna Scroggins, Ruby House and Ellis Messer along with one nephew, Zachary Gray.

      Left behind to mourn his passing, his daughter, Myrah Everlee Elizabeth Messer  and her mother Shayna Ellison of Corbin, his father Steve Messer of London, his sister, Ashley Gray of London, aunt, Sherry Wampler of Norton, Virginia, special friends, Lonnie Collett (Brittany), James Jones (Cassie), Justin May (Colheen), Gary Bargo (Tessa), Kayla Smith (Jake), Francisca Jones (Brandon), Chris Tuttle (Billie), Austin Payne, Caroline Gambrel, Elijah Hubard (Walmart Dad), Tim Tuttle, Jon Bush, Ray West, Paul Hobbs, Jr., and Irvin Balgobin. He also leaves behind many, many other relatives and friends.

      Funeral services for Mr. Messer will be conducted on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Collett officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Wilson Cemetery at Bryant Store. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Collett, Justin May, James Jones, Chris Tuttle, Gary Bargo and Kenny Collett.  Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

      Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 3:00 p.m.
