Melinda Gail (Disney) Roop

Ms. Melinda Gail Roop, age 47 of Roark, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the Holsten Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Ruby Spurlock Disney, born to them on April 20, 1970 in Knox County. Melinda was a member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Curtis Roop.

Melinda is survived by her loving husband, Eric of Roark, Kentucky: One son, Charles Brandon Roop of Gray: One daughter, Chasity Roop of Flat Lick: her brother, Walter Lee Disney and wife Regina of Woodbine: Five sisters: Dora Irvin and husband Tony of Ruckersville, Virginia; Joyce Hatfield and husband Dennis of Corbin, Kentucky; Alice Patterson and husband Roger of Gray, Kentucky; Claudia Lynn Lawson and husband Jimmy of Keavy, Kentucky; and Tammy Foi and husband Charlie, also of Ruckersville, Virginia. She is also survived by six grandsons, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends left behind to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Melinda Gail Roop will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fred Disney, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawson-Spurlock Cemetery at Gray with Kyron Disney, Sean Sizemore, Jamie Parrott, Roger Patterson, Joshua Hatfield and Roger Dewayne Patterson serving as pallbearers.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2017 after 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Saturday, after 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at 11:00 A.M.
