Mrs. Mary Bernice Doolin age 83 of Heidrick, KY departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Barbourville Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born on August 22, 1933 in Trace Branch, KY the daughter of Sam & Tennie (Cottongim) Abner. She was the widow of Sterling Doolin. She had been a seamstress at Warner’s for twenty seven years before retiring in 1994. She was also a member of the HeidrickHoliness Church. 

​In 2012 she was preceded in death by her husband Sterling Doolin, she is also preceded in death byher parents, Sam and Tennie Abner a brother Homer Abner, four sisters, Ollie Lyttle, Ann Abner, Elsie Abner and Dorothy Lawson, and a son in law Frankie Root, brothers in law, Earl Smith, Lester Abner, Ott Lawson and a sister in law, Esteleen Abner. 

She is survived by her loving children, three sons, Frankie Doolin and wife Bobbie of Heidrick, Michael Doolin and wife Kopie of Girdler and Kevin Doolin and wife Kathy of Heidrick, one daughter, Jackie Root of Girdler, KY, ten grandchildren, Preshus Howard and husband Billy of Heidrick, Michael Doolin and wife Kendra also of Heidrick, Nichole Partin and husband Scott of Poplar Creek, Ashley Doolin and fiance’ George Messer of Bimble, Todd Doolin and wife Alex of Richmond, Jacob Doolin, Dakota Doolin and wife Lindsey and Brittany Doolin all of Heidrick, Melanie Jackson and husband Todd of  Barbourville and Amber Johnson and fiance’ Coty Parrott of Heidrick, a very special friend, Etta Vanover of Warren Camp, four great grandchildren, Raegan Howard, Samuel Jacob Doolin , Gavin Partin and Abby Jackson, one sister, Jean Smith of London, She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Doolin will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William R. “Mann” Cobb and Rev. Mickie Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Jacob Doolin, Todd Doolin, Billy Howard, Dion Pickard, Wayne Abner, E.G. Abner, Scott Partin,  Mark Burnette and Adam Soper. She will be laid to rest beside her husband Sterling at the Doolin Cemetery at Heidrick. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements. 

Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. 

The family would like to send a special thank you to all the nurses, aides and staff at the Barbourville Rehabilitation Center and also to all the staff at the Barbourville Appalachian Regional Hospital.
