Mr. John Hendrix, age 77 of Woollum, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Clairborne Medical Center Hospital in Tazewell, Tennessee.  He was born on February 2, 1940 in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Marion and Mary Hendrix.  John was a member of the Antioch Church Clay County in Manchester, Kentucky and was a coal miner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion Hendrix and Mary Moore, stepfather Frank Moore, his loving wife Ada Sue (Abner) Hendrix, brothers Leonard Hendrix and Floyd Hendrix, sisters Mandy Nanz and Ruth Long, sister-in-law Lydia Jarvis, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Jarvis and Bill Abner.

Left behind to mourn his passing are his son Jerry Wayne Abner of Barbourville, Kentucky, daughters Leona Broughton of Gray, Kentucky, and Felicia Sweatt and her husband Tony of Harlan, Kentucky, ten grandchildren, Devin Abner, Jared Abner, Jerica Abner, Kathryn Broughton, Reese Broughton, Kiera Harden, Kirk Brown, Khloe Abner, Kenyon Abner, Brittany Sweatt, great grandchild Kirsynn Locke, brother Raymond Moore of South Carolina, brother-in-law Charles Abner and wife Darlene of Lily, Kentucky, brother-in-law Clyde Abner and wife Phyllis of Evarts, Kentucky, brother-in-law Wayne Abner and wife Audrey of Barbourville, Kentucky, sister-in-law Judy Asher and husband Robert of Manchester, Kentucky, sister-in-law Carlene Abner of Woolum, Kentucky, sister-in-law Janice Jenkins of Barbourville, Kentucky, sister-in-law Bonnie Hendrix of Ages, Kentucky, sister-in-law Brenda Hendrix of Irvine, Kentucky, and special nieces and nephews Jacob Abner, Jennifer Asher and Daniel Asher.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Hendrix will be conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mann Cobb officiating.  Mr. Hendrix will be laid to rest in the Betty Frost Cemetery on Disappointment Hollow in Woollum, Kentucky.  Pallbearers will be Charles Abner, Wayne Abner, Jake Abner, Tony Sweatt, Vernon Merida, Robert Asher, Daniel Asher and Kenny Jarvis.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Wednesday evening January 3, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. 

Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
