J. Cecil Meeks

Mr. James Cecil Meeks, age 79 of Artemus, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was the son of Jim and Mattie (Merit) Meeks, born in Artemus, KY on August 25, 1937. He had worked in several jobs including coal mining. Cecil attended Coal Port Baptist Church and loved working with wood.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife Rita Poindexter, his loving sons, James Robert Meeks and Ronnie H. Meeks and wife Bonnie Sue, daughters, Vickie Lynn Jost and her husband Robert, and Elizabeth Ann Matlock and her husband Cecil, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Also very special friends Paul and Susie Baker.

Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Meeks will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Hembree and Preacher Gene Hubbs officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville City Cemetery. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Monday, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
