Henry Edward Black

       Mr. Henry Edward Black age 80 of Himyar, KY departed this life on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was the son of Jess and Martha (Lockard) Black born to them on December 9, 1936 in Knox Co. On September 3, 1963, he united in marriage with Judy Atkins and to this union two sons were born. Henry had worked as an auto body repairman for over twenty years at Knox Body Shop here in Barbourville before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially being with his family.

          He is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Martha Black, one brother, Jimmy Black and one sister, Julie Castle.

          Left behind to mourn his passing, his wife of  fifty four years Judy Black of Himyar, his loving children and their wives, Jeff Black and wife Joella of Himyar and David Black and wife Lisa of Pineville, two wonderful grandchildren, Caitlyn and Justin Black, one brother, Earnie Black and wife Quillie of Himyar and four sisters, Retha Castle and Jennie Hurst both of Berea, Audrey Jordan of Himyar and Nora Lee Lawson and husband Shirley of Calvin, KY. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

          Funeral services for Mr. Henry Black will be conducted at the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Josh Smith and Rev. James Allen officiating. Pallbearers will be family & friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Woodrow Baker, Marvin Mills, Lewis Jordan, Estile Gregory and John Smith. Burial will follow in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar. Cobb Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
