Garrett Bowling

Mr. Garrett Bowling age 100 of Dewitt, KY departed this life on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in Barbourville. He was the son of Nelson “Ned” Bowling and Maude Bowling. and the widower of Mae (Baker) Bowling. He was born on March 26, 1918 in Knox Co., KY. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator with Kentucky-Virginia Stone and Plastics Universal. He believed in the Baptist Faith and had attended Dewitt Baptist Church and Bethesda Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife and one sister Mae Bowling Bingham.

Left behind to mourn his passing, his son Bernard Garrett Bowling of Dewitt and a daughter, Allison Grubb-Brown and husband Curtis of Barbourville, his loving granddaughter, Chasity Bowling Hester and husband Paul of Lexington, five grandchildren, Logan Hester of California, Collin Hester and Devin Hester of Lexington and Briana Jade Brown and Tristan Curtis Brown of Barbourville. He also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Garrett Bowling will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Donnie Mills officiating with remarks by Mike Corey. Pallbearers will be Buddy Brewer, Curtis Brown, Collin Hester, Phillip Carnes, Devin Hester and Larry Carl. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. James West, Barbourville Appalachian Regional Hospital Staff, Dr. Ashutosh Lohe and his staff.  He will be laid to rest in the Binghamtown Cemetery at Dewitt. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Knox Whitley Humane Association, P.O Box 417, Corbin, KY 40702 in memory of Garrett Bowling. Donations can also be made through their website at www.kwas.org.
