Doris (Smith) Broughton

            Mrs. Doris Broughton age 85 of Barbourville, KY departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of Burchell and Maude Smith born to them on March 31, 1931. She was united in marriage with Peter M. Broughton, Sr. and later with Edward Harp. She was a member of the Barbourville Church of God under the leadership of Rev. Mervial Newman. Doris enjoyed quilting and being with her family.

            She is preceded in death by her husband Peter M. Broughton, Sr. and also Edward Harp along with her three children, Jerry Lee Broughton, Ida Broughton and Pete Broughton, Jr. and two brothers, Leonard Smith and Jimmy Smith.

            Left behind to mourn her passing, two daughters, April Napier and husband Johnny and their son Logan Napier and her other daughter Deborah Brown all of Barbourville, six grandchildren and many great grandchildren, six brothers, Rev. B.R. Smith of Hammond, H.R. Smith and wife Emily of Barbourville, Harold Smith of Corbin, Paul Smith and wife Zelma of Hollywood, Florida, Aaron Smith and wife Mabel of Murphysboro, TN and Clifford Smith and wife Shirley of Ohio, three sisters, Dorothy Messer of Hazel Park, Michigan, Betty Miracle and husband Charles of Knoxville, TN and Geneva Horner and husband Dave of Tarpon Springs, Florida. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

            Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Broughton will be conducted on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Frazier, Rev. Mervial Newman and Rev. B.R. Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Johnny Napier, James Smith, Logan Napier, Larry Smith, Jr. Willis Smith and Stephen Grace. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dr. Stargil and staff, Access family Health staff, Hospice of the Bluegrass staff and Knox Co. Home Health nurses and staff. She will be laid to rest in the Henry Mills Cemetery at Hammond. Cobb Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb Hampton Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
